Humm Baby! Santa Barbara Slugs Its Way To 13 - 9 Road Victory

The Santa Barbara Foresters aggressively put up 16 hits and used a balanced attack on June 19th to defeat the Arroyo Seco Saints 13-9 in Pasadena.

On the mound, starting pitcher Calvin Proskey worked the first three innings before Noah Waldeck delivered a pivotal performance out of the bullpen. Waldeck had tossed three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while helping stabilize the game after the Saints' early offensive slug. To help relieve and close out the game, Henry Prindl followed two innings of relief before closer Lucien Weschberg recorded the final three outs of the ninth inning to secure the 11th victory for Santa Barbara this season. 

The Foresters struck first with two runs in the opening inning and added another in the second to help build a 3 - 0 advantage. Arroyo Seco answered with four runs in the bottom of the second inning to briefly have a close game of 4 - 3.

The Foresters quickly regained their footing and went back to work. 

Santa Barbara responded to Arroyo Seco's lead with a four-run fourth inning and never looked back, taking a lead they would not relinquish in a strong contest in Pasadena. The Foresters' offense was led by designated hitter Caleb Hoover, who turned in one of the most productive performances in the second full week of the season. Hoover finished 3 for 6 with a home run and five RBIs, accounting for nearly half of Santa Barbara's run production of the evening. 

Marcus Greis sparked the offense from the leadoff spot in the lineup, going 2 for 4 with three runs scored, an RBI, a walk, and two stolen bases. Sawyer Farr continued the momentum sourced from the batter's box by going 2 for 3 with two doubles, an RBI, a walk, and two stolen bases. After entering the game a little later, Joseph Sandusky delivered a key offensive contribution, going 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs. 

Carter Rutenbar reached base four times and scored three runs, finishing 2 for 3 with a triple, two RBIs, and two walks. Zane Becker added a pair of solid hits, which included a double. At the same time, Kurt Ippolito collected two hits and drove in a run as the Foresters' lineup was actively producing contributions throughout the order. 

Santa Barbara's aggressive at-bat approach and base running created additional scoring opportunities throughout the evening. The Foresters stole seven bases, with Greis, Farr, and Christian Turner each swiping two bases. Turner also scored twice and reached base twice from the nine hole in the lineup. 

After building an 8 - 4 lead through five innings, the Foresters added three more runs in the seventh inning to help extend their advantage. Arroyo Seco had mounted a late push with three runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth. But Santa Barbara had answered with two insurance runs in the final frame to maintain dominant control over the Saints. 

The Saints finished with 13 hits of their own, led by Brayden Flores ' three-hit performance and Byrce Robinette's three RBI. However, in true Foresters fashion, their timely hitting, speed on the bases, and effective bullpen work had proved to be the difference. The Foresters finished the night with 13 runs on 16 hits, including five extra-base hits, while illustrating the depth and versatility that has become a hallmark of the club's early-season success.
